Cheryl Booker-Carter MD
Dr. Cheryl Booker-Carter joined the GOC physician/ psychiatry team in 2014 with over 25 years of experience. She is a graduate of Temple University Medical School after completing a Masters Degree in Cell Biology and working as a Quality Control Inspector for Merck/ Sharp and Dohme pharmaceutical company. She completed her internship in Family Practice Medicine at Temple Hospital before starting her training in Psychiatry at Cooper Hospital/UMDNJ where she was the Chief Resident. Her training emphasized Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry and psychiatric management of the medically compromised adult. She maintained board eligibility and worked as the Director of Geriatric Services for the Long Term Structured Residence at Albert Einstein Medical Center before joining the Geriatric Psychiatry team at Abington Hospital. Her experience has included both in-patient and out-patient psychiatric treatment. Later she joined Southampton Psychiatric Associates, and the Penn Foundation Geriatric Services where she was affiliated with Grandview Hospital and several nursing homes . She specializes in treatment of major mood disorders including Major Depression and Bipolar disorder , dementia and other psychiatric illnesses in the medically ill, Women’s issues, OCD, Panic and other anxiety disorders. Practice is limited to adults 25 years old or older.
